Fireside Chat & Dinner with The Secretary for Education of the HKSAR Government

We are pleased to invite Oxbridge members and guests to a fireside chat and dinner with Dr the Hon CHOI Yuk-lin, JP, the Secretary for Education of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The fireside chat will be moderated by the Immediate Past President of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Hong Kong, Dr. Blanc Wan BEM.
The event is hosted by a member of the club, Mr. Arun Nigum.
The Secretary of Education will address the society and there will be an interactive Q&A session. Chatham House rules will be applied.
Dr Choi joined the political team of the Education Bureau as Under Secretary for Education in 2017 and assumed the office of Secretary for Education in 2022.
Dr Choi has worked in the education sector for nearly 40 years. She began her teaching career in secondary schools in 1988, serving for more than a decade before joining the Education Bureau’s Curriculum Development Institute, after which she became a secondary school principal. Throughout the years, she actively engaged in community and educational services dedicated to enhancing teacher professionalism and promoting a culture of respect for teachers. Her notable initiatives included organising the Outstanding Teacher Awards and establishing the Hong Kong Teachers Dream Fund. She also served as a member of the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee, the Fight Crime Committee and the Commission on Youth.
