In loving memory of Irene Lee (1970 – 2020)

It is with great sadness that we announce Irene's passing in the early morning on 21 August 2020 at Shatin Hospice in Hong Kong. Following a brave fight against cancer for several years, Irene's funeral took place on Saturday 22 August in Happy Valley.

Irene served as the Society’s much-loved Administrator from 1 December 2008. Many of you will fondly remember Irene as a kind, spirited and dignified lady and a great support to 13 Presidents and Committees of the Society across 12 years.

Remembering Irene

Such a sad loss to the Society, her family and friends. One of the “good’uns”.

I’m very sorry to hear about Irene’s passing. She was a wonderful person who did so much for the Society and it is difficult to envisage the Society without Irene. May she rest in peace.

I am very sorry to learn of this news. Irene had a loving personality and took good care of our Society and she is deeply missed. May she rest in peace.

It was very sad to hear. She was a great administrator for our Society and even more importantly a dear friend who will be well remembered by us all.

I'm so sorry to hear this news and it is without doubt that we all have very fond memories of Irene. She cared a lot for the Society and each of us and she will be deeply missed. I will remember most her cheeriness while helping to setup the Oxbridge balls.

I am very sorry to hear about Irene’s passing. She was a positive and wonderful person and contributed so much to the Society throughout the years. I will definitely miss her. May she rest in peace.

I joined the Society in 2008 and so Irene has been a fixture during all of my time. As Past Presidents, I think we all know in particular how much Irene did for the Society and she continued to do so during my Presidency, when she was already quite ill; her devotion and commitment were really amazing. I really believe that without Irene, the Society could never have become the active and thriving alumni group that it is today.

I am so saddened to hear the news. We are so grateful for Irene’s relentless support to O&C Society.

I spoke to her last after our Past Presidents’ dinner. She was so cheerful and blessed to hear of our gathering. Always on our minds. Forever in our hearts.

She has been a loyal friend of and a great help to our Society for all these years and will be greatly missed.

I really admired her cheerfulness and willingness to continue to assist us during her deteriorating illness even when it must have been extremely difficult for her to do so.

It is heart-breaking to lose Irene. I am speechless and deeply saddened.
