Annual Rowing Regatta & Family Buffet

After a 2-year break, The Oxbridge Annual Rowing Regatta is back, by kind permission of the Rowing Section of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, at Middle Island, Deepwater Bay from 1pm on Saturday 26 June 2022. This is a very popular family event and guests and children are most welcome to attend and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this unique location.

The rowing races will commence at 12pm sharp with crews representing Oxford, Cambridge, combined alumni and Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. Some experience of rowing and/or coxing is required but crews will be of mixed ability and fitness. Individual or crew entries are welcome – please register your interest in advance so we can start assembling crews before the day.  Participants are encouraged to wear their varsity colours and enter into friendly rivalry. "I haven't rowed for 20 years" is not an acceptable excuse! Experienced rowers will have the opportunity to race in Hong Kong’s own “Boat Race” or in a Goldie/Isis boat, but the mood of the day is light-hearted and there will be plenty of opportunity to have a fun row and enjoy the spirit of representing one’s alma mater.

Prizes will be awarded, subject to final entries, on the beautiful lawn of the Clubhouse, followed by a family buffet. A selection of hot and cold meat/fish/vegetarian dishes, soup, desserts, tea/coffee will be served. $490 per member ($380 for children under 11), which includes 2 glasses of house wine/soft drinks/beer

Mark the date in your diary, come to Middle Island to enjoy a relaxing afternoon away from all the hustle and bustle of Central, cheer on your Blue Crew, get your feet wet and let your hair down. End the day by watching the sun set over Deepwater Bay over a glass of wine after a sumptuous buffet. You won’t regret it!
