SUMMARY:Lantau Hiking Trip 2024
DESCRIPTION:LANTAU HIKING TRIP & TEA WITH THE BUNKERS \nOnce again the Bunkers have very kindly invited us to their home for tea after a walk. This year we shall be tackling a pleasant coastal route to reach their home. The walk will start at 1:00pm from the Pui O Village Peter Stuckey wil be leading the walk and be meeting at 11:30am at the Central Ferry Pier No. 6. He will give us brief talks on the highligts of our trip\, particularly about the feral cattle resident at Pui O\, the tin Hau temple at Pui O beach and the coastal scenery along the way. \nThe walk is around 8 kms on concrete paths and fairly well made tracks\, mostly contoured. It involves some inclines but no steep climbs. However\, it will take about 3 hours of walking and once started there are no easy exit options except to complete the walk. Suitable clothing and shoes are essential. Be sure to bring ample water. \nThe Bunkers have kindly invited us for one of Sally Bunker’s excellent cream teas at their delightful home in Mui Wo after the hike. SUMMARY:Cocktail Christmas Party 2024
DESCRIPTION:Our former President and Hong Kong Club member\, Mr. Gordon Jones will be the host of our annual charity Christmas Cocktail Party. This is one of the most popular events in the Society’s calendar so come and enjoy socializing with other members\, friends\, and colleagues in the delightful Garden Lounge with its unique view of the Hong Kong Christmas lights. Drinks and canapes will be served\, including the ever-popular\, mouth-watering roast ham and mustard\, plus Swiss Raclette cheese with condiments. \nAdhering to tradition\, any income generated from this event will be donated to a charity. This year’s chosen charity is Heep Hong Society. Established in 1963\, Heep Hong Society is a leading education and rehabilitation organisation offering professional assessment\, guidance\, training and family support services. It is committed to helping children and young people of different abilities maximise their full potential\, empower families and contribute to an inclusive society. \nTheir team of professionals includes psychologists\, speech therapists\, physiotherapists\, occupational therapists\, nurses\, social workers and teachers. They serve more than 23\,000 children\, young people and parents every year through our network of more than 70 service units\, as well as mainstream kindergartens\, primary and secondary schools. As an innovative service provider\, Heep Hong Society is dedicated to researching evidence-based treatment approaches and promoting the development of integrated education and the rehabilitation sector through research\, training and publishing.
