Members and their guests are cordially invited to our Boat Race Dinner on Saturday, 25 April at the Hong Kong Club. Cocktails will be served from 7PMtogether with the viewing of the 2009 & 1966 Boat Races. The Annual General Meeting of the Society will take place at 7:00 PMsharp.
The speaker to lead the toast to Oxfordwill be given by Dr. DENG Yaping (JesusCollege, Cambridge). Dr. DENG became one of China’s most famous table tennis player by winning 4 Olympic gold medals and 6 World Championships. Upon the retirement of her professional sports career, she embarked on a journey of university studies, completing degrees from TsinghuaUniversity, NottinghamUniversityand a PhD from CambridgeUniversity. She also served on the International Olympic Committee and is a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The speaker to lead the toast to Cambridgewill be given by Mr. David Webb (ExeterCollege, Oxford). Mr. Webb is an activist and share market analyst in Hong Kong. He devotes his time to corporate governance advocacy and researches on companies, small caps in particular, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He is frequently called upon by the media to comment on all matters relating to company governance. Mr. Webb isa member of the SFC’s Takeovers and Mergers Panel and Takeovers Appeal Committee.
Our special guest of honour is Mr. Jim Rogers (BalliolCollege, Oxford). Mr. Rogers co-founded the Quantum Fund. During the 1970s, the fund gained 4,200 % while S&P rose less than 47%. Mr. Rogers took retirement at the age of 37 and continues to manage his own portfolio. Mr. Rogers served as a professor of finance at Columbia University and gained a Guinness record for an around-the-word, cross-six-continents motorcycle trip. The journey became the subject of Mr. Roger’s first book, Investment Biker. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Oxfordcrew in the 1966 Boat Race.
The cost of the Boat Race Dinner is HK$800 per person for members and HK$850 for guests which includes cocktails and a sumptuous four course dinner with wines. Dress code is black tie.
